Global Solo Challenge 2027
The Global Solo Challenge is a race around the world from West to East, solo, non-stop and without assistance. The start is given from Spain and the route passes south of the three emblematic capes of the planet: the Cape of Good Hope, Cape Leeuwin and Cape Horn. Less than 200 people achieved this feat today!
The Global Solo Challenge offers a unique opportunity to achieve a goal never before achieved: to become the first Belgian 12-meter sailboat to complete such a journey!
The nautical event that breaks the codes.
The exceptional attraction of this race, apart from the course, is the freedom of choice of boat by the competitors. Unlike all other races where participants cross the starting line at the same time, the speed handicaps of the different boats are calculated in advance. The boats set off with delayed starts and the first to cross the finish line wins. A real race against time begins: the fastest set off in pursuit of the slowest... Which makes the race all the more exciting to follow!
Ocean racing is no exception to the rule: the world of competition is constantly pushing the limits of technology.
To win, boats are getting faster and faster, more efficient and more expensive. If research and development are positive approaches, the environmental impact of “always more” is disastrous. This is why the organizer of the Global Solo Challenge wants participants to use boats already in circulation and hopes that no one will start with a sailboat specially built for the occasion.
MASAI OCEAN RACING supports this approach by using a boat which already has 90,000 miles.
